The Cove Cottage School, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, is a Christian-based educational group inspired by the Charlotte Mason philosophy. Our cottage school is a hybrid-homeschool community, fostering friendship and creating structure, taking the pressure off of parents to do it alone. 

A ‘cove’ is a small, sheltered bay or inlet on the coast. The water in a cove is calmer than the open ocean. This is how we think of our school: as a small, sheltered, calm and friendly place for early learning. 

Intended for family-style learning, The Cove is crafted for Kindergarten through 3rd grade and meets on Mondays from 10:00am to 1:00pm, with 1-2 optional nature hikes and field trips per semester. This enriches the learning experience, adding an emphasis on close, focused observation of creation as a means to knowledge of God. As of now, this is not a drop-off program (younger siblings are welcome to attend under parental supervision).

The Cove runs for two semesters (Sept-Dec and Feb-May), beginning the Monday following Labor Day. You may enroll for one or both semesters. At the Cove, our classes are built and based around the children enrolled at the time. This approach ensures personalized attention for each student. Inspired by Charlotte Mason’s philosophy on holistic education, our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to explore the what, how, and why. 

The Cove desires to create a close and friendly community. We believe in collaboration between tutors, students, and parents, working together to enrich the whole child. Our parent tutors are passionate about inspiring and empowering students to reach their full potential. We desire to cultivate not just academically proficient students, but well-rounded individuals who will make a positive impact on those around them.
